Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” – Matthew 19:14

Our Children’s ministry:

  • encourages relationships.  We help children discover their relationship with God.  We want every child to be known and loved, and to build lasting friendships.
  • believes all God’s children are graced through the Holy Spirit.  Through worship, prayer, study, and intentional service, we foster children’s spiritual growth.
  • places a high priority on safety and security.  We provide children with a safe, fun, and welcoming place to explore their relationship with God and God’s relationship with the world.

Today’s adolescents live in a world where the search for identity has become increasingly complex. It is our hope as a ministry to remind one another that God has already given us an identity — the image of God — which we are called to live into as individuals and a community each day. It is our prayer that as we seek to love, serve, and reflect God’s story in our communities and the world we would be reminded that we, and all those around us, are made in God’s image.
At FPC, we strive to walk alongside high school and middle school students as they continue to discover who they are and who Jesus is calling them to be. It is our hope and prayer that as student encounter Jesus in new ways that they would find themselves uniquely gifted and significant members of the body of Christ, called to witness to the work of Jesus as they live into God’s dream for the world. We would love for you to come and be a part of this wonderful youth ministry.

Redbud Trail Retreat

Redbud Trail Retreat is a retreat center and camp ground owned by First Presbyterian Church of Downtown South Bend. It is mainly used by the congregation for fellowship and fun. Each year, FPC hosts a four day, outdoor, summer day camp at Redbud that is fun, engaging and safe for children 5 years old by August or September - through 6th grade. Our youth support the adult leadership as counselors for the week and have their own special training and leadership opportunities. First Presbyterian Church of Downtown South Bend believes mission is more than money, it is an investment of our time, talents and energies of our hearts, minds and hands in the mission of God in our community and the world. We seek to teach compassion, extending the loving care of Jesus Christ to those in physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Our Mission Committee works in many way to mobilize the congregation for ministry through active service in the local, national and international communities.
Mission is in the DNA of FPC and not solely the work of one committee or group within the church but who we are.
