Our History is one of more than a century of spiritual progress. From its origin in the house of Horatio Chapin on Michigan Street near LaSalle Avenue, May 3, 1834, 15 to 20 people met for prayer, worship, and study of the Scriptures. Our second church was located at 128 S. Main Street, dedicated in 1839; with the third church at Lafayette and Washington Avenue in 1865. As the population of South Bend increased, so did the need for a larger church, which was erected on the sight of the previous church in 1889 and is now the Peoples Church. Our current church home on Colfax Avenue, in the Georgian Colonial architectural style, was dedicated in January 1953, with the hope of serving many in our community for many years to come!
